Ira Einhorn, a 1970s peacenik and co-founder of Earth Day, was accused of murdering his girlfriend Holly Maddux in 1977. When she tried to leave him, she disappeared, and her body was later found in a trunk in his apartment. Despite being convicted in absentia and sentenced to prison, Einhorn fled the country and evaded capture for over 20 years. He was eventually caught in France in 1997 and is currently appealing his conviction.
