In medieval Europe, a group of prisoners are pardoned to celebrate the upcoming royal wedding. Among them is a cunning uncle-and-nephew duo who pose as tailors in the emperor's palace. They exploit the emperor's obsession with new clothes to create garments invisible to those deemed unfit or foolish. As the wedding approaches, the con artists' scheme becomes increasingly complicated by their own moral struggles, the emperor's scrutiny, and a suspicious guard.
