Private detective Sam Spade Jr. inherits his father's San Francisco agency and is forced to continue his father's tradition of serving minorities. A mysterious case unfolds when an obese man named Caspar Gutman is killed, and Spade receives an offer to purchase his father's copy of the Maltese Falcon. A right-wing thug, Gordon Immerman, is hired to retrieve the bird, but Spade soon encounters a beautiful Russian woman, Anna Kemidov, who also wants the Falcon.
