Inspired by Romanian author Max Blecher's novel, set in 1937, "Scarred Hearts" follows Emanuel, a young man with bone tuberculosis, as he navigates life at a sanatorium on the Black Sea coast. Despite his physical decline, Emanuel falls in love with another patient and finds solace in the resilience of his fellow patients, who refuse to let their minds succumb to their bodily afflictions.
Scarred Hearts
Eternal life's fleeting beauty is relived by a patient at a sanatorium, where he finds love and recounts the struggles of his fellow patients to cherish every moment as their physical bodies deteriorate, while their minds remain unbroken.
