A young woman named Ganga marries Narendra, a man from Calcutta, after helping him on a trip to Gangotri. When Narendra doesn't return, Ganga gives birth to a son and sets out to confront him in Calcutta. Along the way, she faces exploitation, molestation, and is eventually sold to a brothel.
