In 1930s Paris, two American sisters and spiritual mediums, Laura and Kate Barlow, tour Europe as a psychic act, attracting sceptical yet curious audiences. A French film producer, André Korben, is impressed by their abilities and enlists their help to capture a real paranormal manifestation. As World War II approaches, Korben's reputation rests on the success of this project, but are the sisters genuine psychics or a hoax?
