In 1789 Paris, the fall of the Bastille sparks a sense of liberty and revolution. A young washerwoman, Françoise, and a nameless individual, Basile, find themselves swept up in the excitement, discovering the thrill of love and revolution alongside their friends and fellow working-class Parisians. As they join the newly formed assembly, they witness the creation of a new political system, marked by both hope and uncertainty. The debates and street riots that ensue will determine the fate of the once-powerful king and the future of the republic.
