In the early 20th century, a Methodist minister and his wife left their comfortable life in Canada to start anew in rural Iowa. The wife, Hope, struggled to adjust to their humble circumstances and lack of control over their lives, which were now dictated by their congregation. Over the next two decades, the couple moved frequently as the minister was reassigned to different parishes across the US, raising three children along the way. Despite the challenges, the wife generally supported her husband's decisions, even if it meant sacrificing their own desires. However, she longed for a sense of belonging and stability for her family, which they finally thought they found in a Denver parish after the war. But when wealth and entitlement entered the picture, the minister's views on serving God's teachings were put to the test.
