Zezé, an 8-year-old boy, lives in a humble house with his family in Minas Gerais. When his family moves to a new home, Zezé befriends an orange tree and becomes embroiled in various misunderstandings, including a failed attempt to ride the bumper of Manoel Valadares, a local resident known as "Portuga".
