Violetta's mother, Hanna, pursues her artistic dreams, neglecting her daughter's well-being. She sees Violetta as a potential model, exploiting her and transforming her into a Lolita-like figure. As a result, Violetta becomes increasingly isolated from her peers and is frequently bullied at school. After Hanna's grandmother dies, she continues to push Violetta to pose for increasingly provocative photographs, using food deprivation as a means of coercion.
