At Tides High School on the California coast, Dash enters his sophomore year hoping for a fresh start. As he navigates the school's complex social dynamics, he and his friend Assaf work together on the school newspaper, the Tides Gazette. However, their plans are disrupted when Assaf starts a relationship with their editor, Verti, and Dash's hopes for a new beginning are crushed. But when Dash discovers a secret in the school's archives, he realizes he may have the power to change everything.
