A baby gorilla is left in Jill Young's care and grows into a massive, legendary creature named Joe, living in the mountains. When an eco-activist named Gregg O'Hara arrives, he convinces Jill to relocate Joe to a California sanctuary. However, their plan is threatened by a group of poachers who seek to capture Joe for their own gain.
