Marie Ragghianti, a determined woman, left an abusive marriage and moved back to Tennessee to rebuild her life with her three children. She worked hard to earn a degree in English and Psychology at Vanderbilt, and then landed a job as the Extradition Officer for the state under Governor Ray Blanton's appointed counsel, Eddie Sisk. However, she grew increasingly uneasy with the Governor's and Eddie's requests for parole and pardons for inmates with no grounds, and her opposition led to a fierce battle against those who sought to silence and discredit her.
