In a developing African nation, President Kongi seeks to modernize his country after overthrowing King Oba Danlola. As the tribes resist unification, Kongi uses drastic measures to achieve his goal, including forcing officials to wear traditional attire and consulting with his deposed predecessor. He demands a yam, a culturally significant food, as tribute from Danlola. In a shocking turn, Segi, Danlola's former lover, brings the dictator a gruesome gift: her father's severed head.
