An 11-year-old boy struggles to adjust to a new small town after his mother's job transfer. He eventually makes friends at school, but things take a turn when they go on a cycle race and get separated at a fort. Alone and lost, the boy searches the fort and returns home feeling disappointed and unappreciated. Meanwhile, his mother is dealing with her own work challenges and can't share her struggles with her son. The boy becomes unhappy and asks his mother to move back to their hometown, but eventually learns that his friends did care about him and that his mother is working hard to balance her job and family responsibilities.
