A young man named Jakob enrolls in the Institute Benjamenta, a peculiar school where he and seven other students learn servility and other unusual skills under the guidance of the enigmatic brother and sister duo, Johannes and Lisa. As Jakob becomes increasingly drawn to Lisa, he begins to notice strange occurrences at the school, including her catatonic state and the suspicion of incest.
