In Boston, a mysterious epidemic spreads as residents drink Hydropure water and eat Whitefield Corporation vegetables. City Hall Secretary Taylor Lambert shares a conspiracy theory with journalist Lisa Wallace, but his partner Glenda is captured and killed, prompting Lambert to shoot the Mayor and give Lisa a sample of his blood. Wounded, Lambert meets journalist Ben Mosher and hands him a vial of the Mayor's blood before dying. Ben gives the sample to his friend Knutt Jourgensen for analysis.
