In New York, a boy named Cameron lives with his divorced mother Lindsey after his father's drinking problem. One night, he's attacked by a homeless woman and kills her. The Vatican calls a scientist named Dr. Ember to help Cameron, who's possessed and can't be exorcised. Dr. Ember enters the minds of possessed people to bring them back to reality, but his procedure is risky. He discovers Cameron is possessed by a demon named Maggie, who killed his family in a car accident. Dr. Ember must now destroy Maggie and save Cameron.
