Two young women, struggling to pay their rent in Paris, resort to desperate measures to make ends meet. They attend an art gallery reception, where they get caught up in a series of misadventures involving a wealthy lawyer, his artist wife, and a Chinese jeweler. After one of the girls is arrested, the other seeks the help of the lawyer, who agrees to take on her case due to their shared humble beginnings.
