Two ghosts, Sandra and Lance, are stuck in purgatory after leading terrible lives on Earth. A third-rate demon named Bartholomew tries to tempt them to join the devil's team. Their situation changes when Lance becomes smitten with Daphne, a woman who recently lost her sister. He decides to help her find her missing sister while also getting himself and his friend Sandy to heaven. However, things get complicated as they enlist the help of the demon without his knowledge. The story is filled with 1920s detective tropes, lies, and a series of events that lead to a disastrous outcome.
