In the small American town of Orton Creek, a fraternity initiation goes horribly wrong when a young man is accidentally killed. The frat boys try to cover up the crime by framing an innocent electronics salesman for hit-and-run. But the new sheriff, Ralph Baker, is determined to uncover the truth, and his investigation leads him to the salesman and his girlfriend, who are hiding in a hunting cabin. Meanwhile, a group of prison escapees, including a ruthless man named Mick August, are on the run and become embroiled in the mystery.
