In the Arizona Territory of the 1870s, a notorious outlaw known as the Sidewinder, a phantom leader of renegade Ute Indians, wreaks havoc on the local population. Tex McCloud, a rancher whose property is torched, swears revenge and makes a wager with Lt. Tom Blaine, leader of a Cavalry troop, that he will be the first to unmask the Sidewinder.
