Nineteen-year-old Joe Spring leaves his home in Aldergrove, British Columbia, to attend a party in Quesnel, but his mother, Teresa, never receives the promised phone call and becomes increasingly worried as she learns Joe lied about his whereabouts and lost his cell phone in an argument with his girlfriend. With the police initially reluctant to intervene, Teresa finds a sympathetic officer, Sergeant Al Ramey, and they begin searching for Joe, who may have stopped to see an unknown girl named Lucinda in the small town of Chasm.
