Christopher Columbus, an ambitious sailor from Genoa, Italy, dreams of an adventurous life at sea. He becomes an expert sailor and is convinced that the most direct route to the Far East is by sailing due west around the globe. Despite being rejected by King John and Spanish scholars, Columbus perseveres and eventually convinces Queen Isabella of Spain to fund his voyage. With a crew of ninety and three ships, Columbus sets sail, facing mutiny and scarcity of rations. After praying to God, Columbus's young ally Rodrigo spots land, marking the discovery of a new world. Columbus is hailed as Admiral of the Ocean Seas and his name is forever immortalized.
