A preteen boy with autism, Charlie Parsons, has thrived under the care of his parents, Marissa and Eric, and his best friend Amy. As Christmas approaches, Charlie develops feelings of jealousy towards Amy when she talks about other boys. His biological father, Peter, who has been absent for five years, unexpectedly shows up at Christmas, and Charlie hopes he will return this year. Charlie wants to set a world record on Christmas Eve, initially struggling to find an activity he's talented at. He eventually discovers his passion for stacking Jenga blocks and proposes attempting to stack the most blocks in a two-hour time limit. However, his parents must convince Guinness officials to allow him to participate, and they must find enough Jenga blocks for him to practice. Charlie's quest for a world record is affected by his feelings for Amy and his desire for his father's approval and love.
