Tsai Chin, also known as Zhou Caiqin, is a multifaceted artist with a career spanning over five decades and traversing three continents. Born as the third daughter of the renowned Peking opera actor and singer Zhou Xinfang, she is the first Chinese student to be trained at the prestigious Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London.
After earning a Master's Degree at Tufts University in Boston, Massachusetts, Chin began her acting career, starring in notable productions such as The World of Susie Wong in London's West End and Golden Child on Broadway. Her impressive repertoire also includes appearances in two James Bond films: You Only Live Twice, where she played a Bond girl, and Casino Royale.
In addition to her stage and screen work, Chin is also a talented musician. Her single, "The Ding Dong Song," recorded for Decca, reached the top of the music charts in Asia. Furthermore, she holds the distinction of being the first acting instructor to be invited to teach acting in China after the Cultural Revolution, when China's universities re-opened.
In China, Chin is best known for her portrayal of Grandmother Jia in the 2010 TV drama series The Dream of Red Mansions, a testament to her enduring popularity and versatility as an actress.
