Thalmus Rasulala, a talented African American actor, was born Jack Crowder on November 15, 1939, in Miami, Florida. He began his acting career with a significant role as a cast member on the popular soap opera One Life to Live, joining the show from its inception in 1968 until his departure in 1970.
Throughout his career, Rasulala appeared in numerous films and made guest appearances on various TV shows. Some of his notable roles include Lt. Jack Neal in One Life to Live, Roy in Bucktown, Blake Tarr in Friday Foster, Bill Thomas in What's Happening!!, and Omoro Kinte, the father of Kunta Kinte, in the iconic miniseries Roots. He also made memorable appearances in The Twilight Zone, All in the Family, The Jeffersons, Sanford and Son, Good Times, Star Trek: The Next Generation, and The Sophisticated Gents.
Rasulala's final acting role was as General Afir in the 1991 film Mom and Dad Save the World, starring Teri Garr and Jeffrey Jones. Unfortunately, he passed away shortly after completing his scenes, and the film was released posthumously, with a dedication to his memory.
Thalmus Rasulala left this world on October 9, 1991, at the age of 51, due to heart failure in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
