Simon Crane, born in 1960, is a renowned British stuntman, stunt coordinator, second unit director, and film director with a storied career spanning decades. He has been instrumental in the stunt world, working on numerous iconic action films and franchises, such as the James Bond series, Aliens, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, Batman, Superman 4, Terminator 3, X-Men 3, and Men in Black 3.
In 1993, Crane made history by performing the most expensive aerial stunt ever, sliding between two planes on a cable at 15,000 feet, a feat that earned him a place in the Guinness Book of World Records. This remarkable stunt was filmed for the movie Cliffhanger, and Sly Stallone personally paid Simon Crane $1 million out of his own pocket for the daring stunt.
Crane has had a long-standing relationship with the James Bond franchise, starting with A View to a Kill in 1985. He later became Timothy Dalton's stunt double for The Living Daylights in 1987 and then graduated to 2nd Unit Stunt Coordinator for License to Kill. His impressive work in the Bond series culminated in his appointment as Stunt Coordinator for GoldenEye in 1995, a role he has held or shared with other directors on every Bond film since.
