He is a renowned YouTuber, actor, writer, director, and musician, who rose to fame on the video-sharing platform YouTube, being one of the pioneering figures to achieve widespread recognition on the site.
In 2008, at the age of nineteen, Dawson embarked on his YouTube journey, creating content that would eventually garner over half a billion views by 2010. Initially, his early work primarily consisted of sketch comedy videos, where he would portray original characters, impersonate celebrities, and cleverly poke fun at popular culture.
However, his early impressions have since been criticized for their offensive content, including the character "ghetto girl" Shanaynay, which perpetuated African-American stereotypes, as well as numerous instances of blackface, where he would darken his skin to portray black individuals and people of color.
