Samuel M. Raimi, born October 23, 1959, is a multifaceted American film director, screenwriter, and producer. He is renowned for his work on the Evil Dead franchise, which spans three films, and the Spider-Man trilogy, both released between 1981 and 2007. Raimi's extensive filmography also includes the superhero movie Darkman, the revisionist western The Quick and the Dead, the neo-noir crime thriller A Simple Plan, the supernatural thriller The Gift, the supernatural horror Drag Me to Hell, the Disney fantasy Oz the Great and Powerful, and the Marvel Studios film Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
Raimi's films are distinguished by their vibrant visual style, which draws inspiration from comic books and slapstick comedy. In 1979, he founded the production company Renaissance Pictures, and in 2002, he established Ghost House Pictures.
