Subsequently, Maffia secured a role on the popular television series, Chicago Hope, which was followed by her stint as 'Grace Alvarez,' a forensic pathologist for the Violent Crimes Task Force, on NBC's Profiler, a position she held for four seasons. Maffia's most notable performances include her portrayal of Seattle attorney Catherine Alvarez in the film Disclosure, alongside Michael Douglas and Demi Moore, as well as her role on the show Nip/Tuck.
