Robin Douglas Leach was a renowned British entertainment reporter, writer, columnist, and TV personality, born on August 29, 1941, and passed away on August 24, 2018, at the age of 76.
At the tender age of 15, Leach began his career as a general news reporter for the Harrow Observer, earning £6 a week after graduation. He then moved on to the Daily Mail as Britain's youngest "Page One" reporter at the age of 18.
In 1963, Leach emigrated to the United States, where he continued to work as a print journalist for several American newspapers, including the New York Daily News, People, and Ladies' Home Journal. He later launched GO Magazine in 1967 and became the show business editor of The Star.
Leach's television career began as a regular contributor to AM Los Angeles, alongside Regis Philbin and Sarah Purcell on KABC-TV. He also reported for People Tonight, CNN, and Entertainment Tonight, and helped start Good Morning Australia, as well as working for the Food Network.
Leach was a guest at the World Wrestling Federation's WrestleMania IV, where he read the rules for the championship tournament. He also hosted an exposé documentary of Madonna – Madonna Exposed – for the Fox network in March 1993, and hosted the Lifestyles spinoffs Runaway with the Rich and Famous and Fame, Fortune and Romance, alongside future Today Show host Matt Lauer.
In addition to his television work, Leach served as the public address announcer for the 2010 NASCAR Sprint Cup race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. From 1999, he resided in Las Vegas, where he wrote for the Las Vegas Sun and the daily VegasDeluxe.com website from 2008 to June 2016. He was then hired by Sheldon Adelson's Las Vegas Review-Journal.
Tragically, Leach suffered a stroke on November 20, 2017, while on vacation in Cabo San Lucas. He had another stroke on August 20, 2018, and passed away under hospice care in Las Vegas on August 24, 2018.
