Robert Lee Zemeckis, an American film director, producer, and screenwriter, was born on May 14, 1951. He initially gained widespread recognition in the 1980s with his direction of the comedic time-travel trilogy, Back to the Future, as well as the Academy Award-winning live-action/animation epic, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, in 1988.
In the 1990s, Zemeckis expanded his repertoire to include more dramatic films, such as Forrest Gump, which earned him an Academy Award for Best Director in 1994.
