Biography

Omar El Zohairy, a talented filmmaker, embarked on a journey of cinematic excellence by pursuing a degree in film directing at the prestigious High Institute of Cinema in Cairo.

During his time at the institute, he honed his skills by working as an assistant director on numerous feature films, collaborating with Egypt's most renowned filmmakers, including the acclaimed Yousri Nasrallah.

This invaluable experience laid the foundation for his future success, as he went on to create his own short film, The Aftermath of the Inauguration of the Public Toilet at Kilometre 375.

This groundbreaking film made history by becoming the first Egyptian film to be selected for the esteemed Cinéfondation competition at the 2014 Cannes Film Festival.

The film's international recognition did not stop there, as it went on to win numerous awards worldwide, solidifying Omar El Zohairy's position as a rising star in the world of cinema.
