Nina Companeez, a renowned French screenwriter and film director, was born on August 26, 1937. As the younger daughter of Russian Jewish émigré screenwriter Jacques Companéez, she was deeply rooted in the world of cinema from a young age. Her sister, Irène Companeez, was a talented contralto, and Nina's own creative pursuits would later take her in a different direction. However, Nina's personal life would take a significant turn when she became the mother of actress Valentine Varela.
