Mugga, a Brooklyn native, embarked on a remarkable journey in the entertainment industry, distinguished by her unique ability to infuse comedy into her dramatic roles. Her path to stardom began at a young age, where she honed her acting skills under the guidance of esteemed instructors such as Tracey Moore, Joanna Beckson, Paul Calderon, and many others.
On a whim, she decided to try her hand at stand-up comedy, a decision that would ultimately alter the course of her career. Before long, she caught the attention of Def Comedy Jam scout Bob Sumner, leading to a slew of high-profile stand-up gigs that catapulted her to the forefront of the comedy scene. These notable appearances included DEF COMEDY JAM, SHOWTIME AT THE APOLLO, BET'S COMIC VIEW 3X, and BBC'S CLUB CLASS.
Mugga's stand-up comedy success earned her glowing reviews, including a mention in the New York Times. She went on to tour with DEF JAM and COMEDY TROUPE SWG, a UK-based comedy troupe, as well as SISTAHS WITH GAGS, among others. This prolonged exposure to the spotlight allowed her to revisit her acting endeavors, further fueling her passion for the craft.
Her dedication to acting soon paid off when she landed a role in Lee Daniels' Oscar-winning film Precious, playing the memorable character of the restaurant worker whose chicken was 'tolen' by Precious.
As she continued to refine her craft, Mugga remained active in the stand-up comedy world. Her big break came when she secured a role in the groundbreaking Netflix Original Series Orange Is The New Black, earning her a SAG-award winning performance as Reema Pell. Her acting career continued to soar, with a recurring role on NBC's cult hit Manifest as Bethany Collins, the lovable flight attendant from that fateful flight.
Mugga has since consistently booked major roles in prominent TV shows such as Bull, Power, Homeland, Blue Bloods, High Maintenance, and many more. She has also appeared on the big screen in Blumhouse' dystopian action franchise The First Purge!
