Michael McGlynn is particularly known for his work in creating music for voices. His output includes "Agnus Dei" (2005),which was commissioned by Chanticleer, and "Dúlamán" (1995),a short choral setting of a traditional text that combines modality, alternating time signatures, and medieval tonal colors in a unique and instantly recognizable style. This piece has been sung by amateur and professional ensembles all over the world and has come to define an "Irishness" that has been elusive in the world of ensemble music.
As a music video director, McGlynn has created numerous music video shorts and promotional films for M'ANAM, ANÚNA, Wexford Opera Festival, and video games. His promotional film "Shadows of the Lowlands" was used to promote the release of the video game Xenoblade II.
