Matthew George "Matt" Reeves, born on April 27, 1966, in Rockville Center, New York, USA, is a multifaceted creative individual with a passion for storytelling. He began his filmmaking journey at the tender age of eight, directing friends and utilizing a wind-up camera to capture their adventures.
Reeves' early collaborations with fellow filmmaker J.J. Abrams started when they were just 13 years old, and together they created short films that showcased their budding talents. At 15 or 16 years old, the duo caught the attention of the legendary Steven Spielberg, who hired them to transfer some of his own Super 8 films to videotape.
As Reeves' career progressed, he transitioned from screenwriting to feature-length directing with the films Under Siege 2: Dark Territory (1995) and The Pallbearer (1996). The latter marked his debut as a feature-length director. He then ventured into television, co-creating and directing the drama series Felicity (1998-2002) alongside J.J. Abrams.
Reeves has since explored various genres, including horror with Cloverfield (2008) and romantic horror with Let Me In (2010). He has also directed science fiction sequels Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (2014) and War for the Planet of the Apes (2017).
In February 2017, Warner Bros. announced that Reeves would be directing The Batman (2022),a DC film starring Robert Pattinson.
