Mariano Cohn, born on December 1, 1975, in Villa Ballester, Argentina, is a film director and producer who has been working alongside Gastón Duprat since the early days of their careers.
The duo met in 1993 at a regional experimental video festival in Buenos Aires, where Gastón was a member of the jury and Mariano was competing with his video "Un día más en la tierra". After exchanging ideas, they began working on new projects and have been creative and business partners ever since.
Throughout their careers, Mariano and Gastón have created over twenty works in the fields of experimental film and video, which have been showcased in movie theaters, art-house venues, and museums around the world. Some of their notable titles include "Cámara de sombra", "Circuito", "Venimos llenos de Tierra", "Hectárea", "Soy Francisco López", "20/12", and "Hágalo usted mismo".
In the feature film genre, they have directed several notable films, including "Enciclopedia" (1998),"Yo Presidente" (2006),"El artista" (2008),"El hombre de al lado" (2009),"Living stars" (2014),and "The Distinguished Citizen" (2016). Their film "El hombre de al lado" won several awards, including the Best Argentine Feature Film prize at the 24º Mar del Plata Film Festival and the Best Cinematography Award in the World Dramatic Competition at Sundance 2010.
Their latest film, "Official Competition" (Competencia oficial),was released in 2021.
