Maria Clara Escobar is a multifaceted artist with a remarkable portfolio of work. Her feature film, "Desterro", was selected for the Tiger Awards Competition at the 49th Rotterdam International Film Festival, marking her first fiction film. Prior to this, she directed the documentary feature film "The Days with Him", which received accolades at festivals such as Tiradentes, DocLisboa, and Cachoeira.Doc, and was showcased at prominent venues like IBAFF, Directors Week, and the International Festival of Nuevo Habana Latin American Cine.
In addition to her work in feature films, Maria Clara has also written and directed two short films, and contributed to the screenplay and served as assistant director on Julia Murat's critically acclaimed film "Found Memories". This film had its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival and has garnered over 30 awards, having participated in over 40 festivals.
Maria Clara's recent endeavors include working on casting for two Berlinale'17 films: "Joaquim" by Marcelo Gomes, which competed in the International Competition, and "Pendular" by Julia Murat, which won the Fipresci Award in the Panorama section.
Furthermore, Maria Clara has ventured into literature, releasing her first book of poems, "Medo, Medo, Medo", in 2019.
