Jonathan Bolt, Director of New York's Third-Year Company Program, fosters a warm and inviting environment that cultivates a sense of openness and trust among his students. This approach is a direct result of his own professional experiences, which have taught him the importance of these qualities.
Originally from North Carolina, Bolt has built a diverse and extensive career in Hollywood and across the United States, consistently returning to New York City where his journey began. He started his career by studying under the renowned Sanford Meisner, a legendary acting coach.
Throughout his career, Bolt has appeared in over 100 theater, television, and film roles. In addition, he has written two musicals and six plays for Theatreworks USA, and has received numerous playwriting grants to further develop his work.
As a principal actor and director, Bolt has received critical acclaim from various theatre companies, including the Actors Theatre in Louisville, Circle Repertory Company, and Classic Stage Company. Despite joking that he had never taught before, Bolt found his true calling when he joined The Academy in 2005.
