Jody Hill is a renowned American film director and screenwriter, born on October 15, 1976, in Concord, North Carolina.
He made his directorial debut in 2006 with the film The Foot Fist Way, a project that was deeply personal to him, as it was based on his own experiences as a Taekwondo black belt and instructor. The film's success led to a cult following, and it caught the attention of Will Ferrell and Adam McKay, who acquired the distributing rights to the film.
This led to Hill being invited to the set of Knocked Up, where he met future collaborator Seth Rogen. He was later asked to make a cameo appearance in Rogen's film Superbad, alongside his writing partner Ben Best. Hill would go on to cast Rogen as the leading man in his film Observe and Report, which opened at number 4 at the box office.
Hill is married to actress Collette Wolfe, who has appeared in several of his films, including Observe and Report and The Foot Fist Way.
In addition to his work in film, Hill has also directed a parody music video, Swagger Wagon, as part of an ad campaign for the Sienna SE minivan from Toyota.
Hill's next film, L.A.P.I., is an action comedy about a hardboiled private investigator, played by friend and frequent collaborator Danny McBride. It marks the first film that Hill has directed but not written, with the script penned by Michael Diliberti and Matthew Sullivan. The film is also the first production from Hill's, McBride's, and David Gordon Green's new production company, Rough House Pictures.
