Joaquín Cordero, a renowned Mexican actor, was born on August 16, 1923, and passed away on February 19, 2013, at the age of 89.
Initially, Cordero's family relocated to Mexico City shortly after his birth, and he subsequently attended a seminary, where he contemplated a career in the priesthood. However, he eventually shifted his focus towards the study of law.
After three years of law classes, Cordero defied his family's wishes and pursued a career in acting. He began with small roles but gradually earned larger parts by his early fifties, eventually becoming one of the most popular actors in Mexican cinema.
Throughout his illustrious career, Cordero also made significant contributions to the world of theatre and television, starring in numerous telenovelas and garnering numerous awards. Some of his most notable telenovelas include La Madrastra and Destilando Amor.
On February 19, 2013, Cordero passed away in a clinic in Mexico City due to complications from heart problems. His family reported that he died of a broken heart, struggling with deep depression following the passing of his beloved wife, Alma Guzman, on July 18, 2012.
