Hanna Mangan-Lawrence was born on March 5, 1991, in London, England, to Maggie Mangan, an English teacher and playwright, and Ray Lawrence, a geography, economics, and business studies teacher. She is of Australian and British descent.
Mangan-Lawrence is the eldest of five siblings, including her half-sister Rosene, two half-brothers Liam and Reuben, a stepsister Zoe, and stepmother Paddy, also a teacher.
