Geoff Johns is a renowned comic book writer, widely recognized for his work on iconic characters such as Superman, Green Lantern, the Flash, Teen Titans, and Justice Society of America. His graphic novels, including GREEN LANTERN: RAGE OF THE RED LANTERNS, GREEN LANTERN: SINESTRO CORPS WAR, JUSTICE SOCIETY OF AMERICA: THY KINGDOM COME, SUPERMAN: BRAINIAC, and BLACKEST NIGHT, have topped The New York Times bestseller list.
Born in Detroit, Michigan, Johns studied media arts, screenwriting, film production, and film theory at Michigan State University. After relocating to Los Angeles, he worked as an intern and later an assistant for renowned film director Richard Donner, whose credits include Superman: The Movie, Lethal Weapon 4, and Conspiracy Theory. Johns began his comics career by writing STARS AND S.T.R.I.P.E. and creating the character Stargirl for DC Comics.
Throughout his illustrious career, Johns has received numerous awards and accolades, including the Wizard Fan Award for Breakout Talent of 2002 and Writer of the Year for 2005, 2006, 2007, and 2008. He has also received the CBG Writer of the Year award from 2003 to 2005 and 2007 to 2008, as well as the CBG Best Comic Book Series award for JSA from 2001 to 2005.
Johns has had successful runs on various titles, including THE FLASH, TEEN TITANS, and the best-selling INFINITE CRISIS miniseries. He co-wrote a run on ACTION COMICS with his mentor Donner and collaborated with Grant Morrison, Greg Rucka, and Mark Waid on the ambitious weekly comic book series 52. Additionally, Johns has written for other media, such as the acclaimed "Legion" episode of SMALLVILLE and the fourth season of ROBOT CHICKEN.
Currently, Johns is writing the story for the DC Universe Online massively multiplayer action game from Sony Online Entertainment LLC. He has also joined DC Entertainment as its Chief Creative Officer. A resident of Los Angeles, California, Johns continues to make significant contributions to the world of comics and beyond.
