Gabriel Martins, professionally known as Gabito, hails from the city of Contagem, situated in the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil. He pursued higher education in Cinema, Video, and Photography at Centro Universitário UNA, laying the groundwork for his future endeavors in the film industry.
Martins' professional journey began with his work as editor and cinematographer on the short film Fantasmas, directed by André Novais Oliveira, which premiered in 2010. This initial foray into the world of filmmaking served as a stepping stone for his subsequent career as a director.
His directorial debut came with the short film Meu Amigo Mineiro, released in 2012. However, it was his involvement in the episodic feature O Nó do Diabo (2018),where he directed one of the segments, that catapulted him to fame within the Brazilian cinematographic scene. Additionally, his work as a director on No Coração do Mundo (2019) further solidified his reputation within the industry.
Notably, Martins is also a co-founder of the production company Filmes de Plastic, which has enabled him to collaborate with other creatives and bring his unique vision to life through various projects.
