Curtis King Jr., a renowned American singer-songwriter, arranger, and producer, has had the privilege of collaborating with a plethora of esteemed artists throughout his illustrious career. Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Curtis was raised in Tallahassee, Florida, before relocating to New York City in 1977, where he began a new chapter in his burgeoning career alongside his songwriting partner and hometown friend, Darryl Tookes.
As they started to make a name for themselves, Curtis and Darryl began to attract the attention of industry legends such as Luther Vandross and Todd Rundgren. Their nightly residency at Manhattan's Home club and extensive studio experience with early mentor "Moogy" Mark Clingman laid the foundation for their future success. This education proved invaluable, as Curtis went on to work with an impressive array of artists across multiple genres, including Billy Ocean, Cinderella, and many more.
Currently, Curtis is an integral member of Bruce Springsteen's E-Street Band, showcasing his talents on stages alongside other esteemed ensembles and vocalists. Throughout his career, Curtis has had the opportunity to perform at numerous notable events, such as Live-Aid in 1985 and Hyde Park in 2012. In between these performances, he has been in high demand, receiving calls for session dates and tours. Curtis is also a regular guest performer for the bands of David Letterman and Saturday Night Live, as well as the voice behind thousands of jingles nationwide.
