Claire Saffitz is a multifaceted culinary expert, distinguished by her dual roles as a freelance recipe developer and video host. Prior to embarking on her current entrepreneurial endeavors, she served as the Senior Food Editor at Bon Appétit magazine for a period of five years, where she played a pivotal role in the test kitchen.
Born and raised in the vibrant city of St. Louis, Missouri, Claire now calls New York City her home. Her academic background is marked by a stellar performance at Harvard University, where she earned her degree with honors in 2009. This was followed by a prestigious stint at École Grégoire Ferrandi, a renowned culinary and trade school in Paris, France, where she pursued her passion for classic French cuisine and pastry from 2012 to 2013. During this period, she also completed an externship at the esteemed Spring restaurant.
In addition to her culinary pursuits, Claire has also pursued advanced academic credentials. In 2014, she earned her Master's degree in History from McGill University, where she focused her research on culinary History in the Early Modern Era.
Currently, Claire continues to host the popular "Gourmet Makes" series for Bon Appétit, while also working on a forthcoming cookbook project slated for release in Fall 2020.
