Christine Ockrent was born on April 24, 1944, in Brussels, Belgium, to Belgian diplomat Roger Ockrent. She attended the prestigious Cours Hattemer in Paris and graduated from the Institut d'Études Politiques de Paris (Sciences Po) in 1965.
Ockrent's journalism career began with her work for the CBS news magazine 60 Minutes, while simultaneously serving as the morning news anchor for Europe 1 in France. In 1981, she made history by becoming the first female anchor of the 8 pm news on Antenne 2 television channel.
