Born in New Zealand, Mulvey is a bi-cultural individual, boasting Maori and European heritage. At the tender age of eight, his family relocated to Sydney, Australia, where he would eventually make a name for himself in the entertainment industry.
Mulvey's most notable roles include Mark Moran in the Australian drama series Underbelly, as well as Bogdan 'Draz' Drazic in the popular teen drama Heartbreak High. Interestingly, he shared his high school experience with fellow Heartbreak High cast members Jon Pollard and Alle Brunning at Beacon Hill High School in New South Wales.
Tragedy struck Mulvey in 2003 when he was involved in a devastating car accident, resulting in a head-on collision at a staggering 100 km/h. He was trapped in the wreckage for nearly an hour before being freed, sustaining severe injuries in the process. Specifically, the midsection of his face collapsed, requiring an incision from ear to ear across the top of his scalp. To repair the fractures to his face and jaw, 17 titanium plates were subsequently inserted. Moreover, his left knee and ankle were badly fractured, and he suffered the loss of vision in one eye.
